The festive season is upon us and that means a new party dress (or two) is in order! Whether you go for all out look-at-me sparkle or you fancy something a little more demure and sophisticated, here are a few current trends to keep in mind when dressing up in your finest this season. Jasmin Kerawalla, owner of COCO, a European prêt boutique chain, believes that her “less-is-more” philosophy applies now like never before.
Richer hues like emerald green, cobalt blue and ruby red, along with the customary black, will allow you to feel in trend with the colors on the Winter runway. These warm tones have a “feel good” factor about them, and suit Indian skin tones beautifully.
Fashion in 2013 has been dominated by georgettes and wispy chiffons. Designers, especially prêt designers, are opting for these lighter textiles as they suit all body types and frames. You can opt for these fabrics in floor length maxis or tunics in solid colors and multiple cuts, and pair them with just one classic show stopping neck piece.
Lace in pastels and black, with its Victorian feel has always been synonymous with Chritmas. Cutouts, showing just a glimpse of skin, is a fabulous style to feel sexy, without revealing too much. How to incorporate this style : A lace or netted waist, sheer sleeves, or a sheer high neckline on dresses, maxis or tops. Feel demure and flirty at the same time.
Bling it on
The Holiday season is generally about sparkle – be it sequins or beads. A simple sequined blouse or tank top may be paired with a rich velvet skirt or silk palazzos for a semi formal Christmas dinner with friends & family. Easy and chic.
Another 2013 trend has been longer lengths in jumpsuits and maxis. The maxi trend continues this holiday season, with most women opting for floor length silhouettes. A well fitted maxi just has a way of making you feel more glamorous.
All in all, this Christmas, let’s all try to find that perfect blend of subtle sensuality and sophistication. Happy Holidays!
